Most visitors arrive expecting one pier and a free shuttle boat. They find five piers and a 12 THB fare, the complimentary service ended in May 2023. Knowing which pier matches your boat type, and when queues peak, saves real time.
ICONSIAM has five separate piers, each handling different boat types. First-timers who head to the nearest dock often end up at the wrong one.
Inside, the ground floor holds SookSiam, a large indoor floating market recreating a traditional Thai market with local food stalls. The mall itself covers 525,000 m² and includes Siam Takashimaya and Thailand's only Apple Store (2nd level, ranked 4th most beautiful globally in 2019).
The ICONIC Multimedia Water Feature runs three times nightly, with jets reaching 35 metres. Arrive 10 minutes early to claim a riverside spot. Plan for 2–4 hours in the mall, 30–60 minutes in SookSiam, and 15–20 minutes per show. Luggage storage sits on B2 (10:00 AM–10:00 PM; from 30 THB/hour or 150 THB/day).
Entry to the mall, SookSiam, River Park, and fountain shows is free. There are no admission gates or timed-entry queues for general access.
Boat fares are separate: the Sathorn shuttle costs 12 THB one-way; the Si Phraya shuttle costs 8 THB. The free shuttle that older guides mention ended on 1 May 2023. Dinner cruise tickets are purchased through individual operators, book in advance for weekends, as popular cruises sell out. Check the ICONSIAM official site or social media before major holidays, as hours may extend or vary.
No queues at the mall entrance. Shuttle boat lines peak between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM, plan around that window if possible.
Take the BTS Gold Line to Charoen Nakhon station (G2), also signed as ICONSIAM station. Exit 3 leads directly to the main building via a covered elevated walkway; under 5 minutes' walk. Gold Line trains run 06:00 to midnight; the journey from Krung Thon Buri takes 3 minutes.
Route 4-1 (6) connects Khao San Road to the Klongsan Market/ICONSIAM stop. Walking time from the stop to the piers is 5–10 minutes. For other origins, search Google Maps for current routes to "ICONSIAM."
Drop-off is along Charoen Nakhon Road at the main entrance loop. Avoid arriving after 4:00 PM if you're on a schedule, rush-hour congestion along this stretch is heavy.
Same drop-off point as taxis. Designated pickup zones aren't officially marked, so confirm on arrival. Post-event and post-cruise queues can be congested; budget extra time.
ICONSIAM has a 5,000-car garage. Parking is free for the first 2 hours, or free for up to 8 hours when you spend 2,000 THB or more and present the receipt. Beyond that, the rate is 60 THB/hour. Weekend and evening spots fill quickly, arrive early or use transit.
A private chauffeur offers the most flexible door-to-door service to ICONSIAM Pier, particularly valuable when travelling with luggage, elderly guests, or groups requiring direct access to specific piers for dinner cruises. Your driver will navigate to the appropriate drop-off point along Charoen Nakhon Road and can coordinate pickup times aligned with your river activities. Rates are quote-on-request and structured by hours or destination. This option removes the stress of peak-hour boat queues or rail transfers with bags. For Chao Phraya dinner cruise groups coordinating across multiple piers, having a driver hold position nearby is especially practical.
Weekday mornings from 9:30 to 11:30 AM and mid-afternoons from 1:30 to 4:30 PM are the quietest windows. SookSiam is especially easy to browse on weekday mornings; the market fills up fast on weekends. For fountain shows with a good riverside position, weekday evenings from 6:00 to 9:00 PM offer the right balance of atmosphere and manageable crowds.
November through February brings the most comfortable weather for the outdoor River Park and pier areas. Late December (Amazing Thailand Countdown) and mid-April (THAICONIC Songkran) draw massive crowds and extended programming, worthwhile if you want the spectacle, but not if you prefer space.
Rainy days work fine at ICONSIAM. The covered mall and SookSiam give you plenty to do, and the fountain shows run through light rain.
The mall, SookSiam, River Park, and fountain shows are all free. Shuttle boat fares apply separately, 12 THB from Sathorn Pier and 8 THB from Si Phraya Pier as of June 2026.
Shuttle boats run from 09:00 to 22:50, with departures every 15–20 minutes. Buy your ticket at the counter on the left end of the Sathorn Pier building.
From Saphan Taksin BTS, take Exit 1, follow the walkway to the "Ferry – Right" signboard, and board the ICONSIAM shuttle. The crossing takes about 10 minutes and costs 12 THB.
Pier 1 is the southernmost pier and serves the Chao Phraya Express Boat, the Chao Phraya Tourist Boat, and the Sathorn shuttle. Dinner cruise boats depart from Pier 2, directly in front of the main entrance.
Weekday mornings between 9:30 and 11:30 AM are the quietest, both at the mall and on the boats. Avoid the 5:00–7:00 PM boat-queue peak, and skip Friday through Sunday evenings if crowds are a concern.
Fixed rates, 24/7 operations, flight-tracked pickups. PAL handles the ground transportation.
