What to Expect at Tiger Brewery, Historical Reference
All content in this section describes the tour as it operated before December 2023.
The tour followed a four-stop sequence: Visitor Center, Brew House, Packaging Gallery, and Tiger Tavern. Every zone was air-conditioned and indoors.
- Visitor Center opened with a display of vintage Tiger Beer bottles dating to the Malayan Breweries era, plus a close-up look at the four core ingredients: malt, hops, yeast, and water.
- Brew House showed the full 500-hour brewing process condensed into a guided walkthrough. Visitors tasted raw "wort", the liquid before fermentation, and watched the automated process in action.
- Packaging Gallery revealed the factory's scale. The plant was fully automated and produced 40,000 beer cans per hour.
- Tiger Tavern closed out the tour with a 30-minute free-flow tasting session covering seven beers, including Anchor, ABC, and Guinness Foreign Extra. Visitors could also try pouring a perfect draught pint.

Getting to Tiger Brewery, Transport Reference
The Tuas facility still exists as an administrative site. No public access is available, but transport details are preserved for geographic reference.
Rail
Take the East-West Line to Joo Koon (EW29), the terminal station. Exit A leads through FairPrice Hub to the bus interchange, the brewery was not within walking distance.
Bus
From Joo Koon Interchange, buses 182 and 182M stopped at Asia-Pacific Brewery station, directly in front of the entrance, about 15 minutes and six stops from Joo Koon.
Taxi and E-Hailing
Drop-off at the main gate on 459 Jalan Ahmad Ibrahim. Taxi fares are metered; e-hailing fares show as an in-app estimate before booking.
Driving and Parking
Complimentary on-site parking was available on a first-come basis. Nearby paid alternatives included Raffles Marina Open Car Park, REC Carpark 4A, and Tuas South Ave 2 Garage.
Private Chauffeur
A private chauffeur delivers door-to-door from any Singapore origin, hotel, airport, or cruise terminal, at a fixed quote agreed before travel. For west-region itineraries pairing the Tuas area with Singapore Zoo, Jurong Lake Gardens, or the Science Centre, a chauffeur on a disposal basis removes the need to plan multiple MRT transfers. Your chauffeur confirms the pickup point and time at booking. For airport and hotel pickups, a driver meets you at the designated area with a name sign where applicable. Guests requiring wheelchair assistance should inform the chauffeur service in advance.

Best Time to Visit, Historical Patterns
The tour closed permanently; this section documents what timing looked like during operations.
- Crowd patterns: Weekdays ran three tour slots versus five on weekends. Typical group size was around 15 people. Weekday afternoons at 1 PM and 3 PM were the quietest options, with easier booking and lower ticket prices.
- Seasonal calendar: August to October offered the smallest crowds and most competitive pricing. November to January drew heavy international tourist traffic, making last-minute booking difficult. June and July were busier due to shopping-festival crowds, often pushing ticket prices higher. The tour was closed on all public holidays and their eves.
- Weather: Almost all zones were indoors and air-conditioned, so weather rarely affected the experience. November to February offered the most comfortable climate for the short outdoor walk between bus stop and entrance.
Why the Tour Closed
Heineken confirmed in March 2026 that Asia Pacific Breweries Singapore will wind down large-scale brewing operations in Singapore, with production relocating progressively to regional breweries in Malaysia and Vietnam. Full transition is expected by 2027. APBS had operated the Tuas facility since moving from Alexandra Road, producing Tiger Beer, Singapore's first locally brewed beer, continuously since 1932. The Tuas site continues as an administrative and brand headquarters, but the factory tours ended in December 2023.
For other unique experiences in Singapore worth adding to your itinerary, the west region also offers Jurong Lake Gardens and the Science Centre Singapore as standalone day-trip options.
Worth Knowing
These tips reflect the tour's operational period; preserved for historical context.
- Book well ahead, online reservations sometimes offered a SGD 2 discount versus walk-in rates.
- Arrive 10 minutes before your tour slot for ID verification and check-in.
- Skip the 5 PM tour if you want full tasting time, the brewery closed at 6:30 PM, leaving under 90 minutes at Tiger Tavern.
- Bring photo ID; entry was refused without age verification at the gate.
- Audio guides in Korean, Japanese, and Chinese were available via QR code scan at the Visitor Center.
- Most visitors arrived by taxi or public transport, free-flow beer sampling made driving inadvisable.
- Watch for the small entrance gate after alighting at Asia-Pacific Brewery stop; walk a few hundred metres in the direction of traffic.
- Wheelchair users should note that factory-floor sections were not wheelchair accessible.
- No outside food or drinks were allowed; plan to eat before you arrive.
- Confirm public-holiday dates in advance, the tour did not run on PH days or their eves.
